Why did SikhNet keep it a secret that part of Yogi Bhajan’s ashes were scattered in the Ganges at Rishikesh after a ceremony performed by a Hindu swami? Was Yogi Bhajan really a Hindu?
Soon after Yogi Bhajan’s death in October of 2004, SikhNet posted this:

“Accompanied by over two hundred Western Sikhs, Dr. Bibiji Inderjit Kaur and her family will carry out the final wishes of Siri Singh Sahib Bhai Sahib Harbhajan Singh Khalsa Yogiji to immerse his ashes at Kiratpur Sahib on January 11th at 2:00 pm. Other ceremonies honoring the great Sikh Leader and Missionary will be held in Amritsar and New Delhi that same week.”

After the party went to Kiratpur Sahib, SikhNet posted this:

“As Ranbir Singh, Yogi Bhajan's son carried the ashes by his heart, all of our hearts softened and opened. We reached the bridge where the sangat surrounded Bibiji, Ranbir Singh, Kulbir Singh, Kamaljit Kaur and the rest of the family. The rest of the sangat gathered on the riverbanks, and Guru Singh and the MPA students led us all in chanting Guru Guru Wahe Guru Guru Ram Das Guru, as Yogi Bhajan's ashes were poured into the river.”

Later SikhNet posted that the remainder of Yogi Bhajan’s ashes were dumped out of a helicopter over Ram Das Puri (near Espanola, New Mexico, USA) in April of 2005.

But SikhNet never told anyone that – on January 18th, a week after the ceremony at Kiratpur Sahib - Bibiji, Yogi Bhajan’s wife, accompanied by his children and some of his American students, participated in a Hindu ceremony at Parmarth Niketan Ashram in Rishikeh, where part of Yogi Bhajan’s ashes were scattered in the Ganges.

This was conducted by the head of the ashram, a Hindu swami and close friend of famed Kundalini Yoga teacher Gurmukh Kaur. You can see the video: Why Do " White Sikhs " Perform Idol Worship ?" Gursikhs reply to Sikh Net video... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msr3gDRGsPQ

Why did SikhNet not publicize this event? Was it deliberate or were they kept in the dark by Yogi Bhajan’s family? Why were the ashes of the self-styled head of the Sikhs in the Western Hemisphere interred at a Hindu holy place, with a ceremony conducted by a Hindu swami? Why did his supposedly Sikh wife and children willingly participate in an obviously Hindu ceremony? Why do supposedly Khalsa students sing Hindu songs, chant Hindu mantras and participate in Hindu rituals?

And the big question: Was Yogi Bhajan really a Hindu at heart?

Was Yogi Bhajan really a Hindu?

Parmarth's website shows a Hindu puja & final rites ceremony with Bhajan's ashes. A photo also clearly reveals Yogi Bhajan's wife Bibiji Inderjit Kaur Puri & her sons at Rishikesh's Parmarth Niken Ashram on the 18 January for a Hindu puja & final rites ceremony with Bhajan's ashes. What were Yogi Bhajan's real last wishes? Bhajan lived as a Hindu, why shouldn't he have wanted to die like a Hindu?

January 18 -- Rishikesh

"A very special ceremony was held in honor of the passing of the Great Saint, the one who brought Sikh Dharma to the west and who turned thousands of westerners off of drugs/alcohol and onto spirituality - Siri Singh Sahib Yogi Bhajan. Pujya Yogiji entered mahasamadhi in October, and in January a huge yatra of devotees from across the world brought his sacred ashes to India. The yatra came to Rishikesh on the 18 January for the divine puja and final rites ceremony."

Notice that the SikhNet article also talks about Amritsar and New Delhi. No mention of Rishikesh.
